Estate Pinot Noir 92 Points James Suckling The Chalk Hill Estate is located at the convergence of a number of diverse climates, soils and terrains in the northeastern hills of Sonoma County. The Chalk Hill AVA is a sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley, the epicenter of Pinot Noir growing and winemaking. While the Chalk Hill Estate is a bit warm for top quality Pinot Noir, our Trenton Road Vineyard, located a few miles west of the winery, is ideally situated. Trenton’s 45 acres of vineyard is set in the in the center of the Russian River Valley AVA. In addition to the 45 acres of vines, it is home to 140 acres of native woodlands, two groves of redwoods, steep hillsides and stunning views of the valley and mountains. While it bears many similarities to our Chalk Hill Estate, the cooler conditions at Trenton Road make it an ideal site for Pinot Noir.
