Lush with delicate floral aromas that carry through to the palate playing beautifully with the wine’s earth tones of wet stone and sage. Creamy, rich, and viscous texture with vibrant acidity.

A variety from Rhône Valley that we find most notably in Condrieu, France, we find here at our estate at Chalk Hill. Small plantings and small production – just delicious! Intensely floral with hints of honeysuckle, jasmine, and super round mouthfeel adds heft and density with peach and apricot, topped with red delicious apple. Hints of lemon curd, quince adds balance to the rich depth of the mid-palate.

Try it with: Seared Atlantic Salmon, Caramelized Onion Soubise, Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Sautéed Garden Kale

“Features of Earth tones of the wine play beautifully with the Earth tones of the dish. Rich fruits stand alongside the salmon which radiates of stone, orchard, and citrus fruits to balance.”

Winemaker Notes
2015 was another prime vintage with moderate temperatures throughout the spring and summer. Our 2015 Viognier is lush with notes of honeysuckle, and jasmine on the nose. These delicate floral aromas carry through to the palate playing beautifully with the wine’s earth tones of wet stone and sage, as well as nectarine and white peach. The first sip is as if you’re biting into a ripe peach with its creamy, rich, and viscous texture with vibrant acidity.
Food Pairing Notes
The wine’s rich flavors stand well alongside a pan roasted salmon with caramelized onion soubise, charred cauliflower, and lemon curd to provide a perfect balance.

Production Notes
Viognier is well suited to Chalk Hill Estate. Our climate is warm enough to fully ripen this Rhone native, yet cool enough to ensure structure and liveliness. Our Viognier comes from the P Lyre Block on our estate. This site allows the grapes to reach their optimal ripeness and are picked and handled with great care during the winemaking process.
