The 1998 Merlot benefited from the longest growing season on record, allowing exceptional flavor and tannins development, while a small crop ensured intense, concentrated fruit. The combined result of vineyard events was excellent raw materials. Traditional Bordelais vinification captured the essence of this exemplary fruit; light fining and no filtration prior to bottling preserved it. Concentrated flavors of black cherry, blueberry, cassis, plum, and chocolate mesh with spicy oak in a plush and persistent finish.
