1994 Estate Bottled Merlot

WINEMAKER'S NOTES

With virtually perfect growing conditions, this vintage proved to be the ideal time to debut a Chalk Hill Estate Bottled Merlot. The consistent and moderately warm weather was especially ideal for the south-facing slope where the grapes for the wine originated. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts yielded a massively textured wine with intense color and concentrated black cherry and wild berry flavors. The Merlot was blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Cabernet Franc for enhanced structure and complexity. The blend was aged in 100% new French oak, and bottled unfiltered.
