The Chardonnay from the “Founder's Block” benefited from a long, cool growing season and nearly perfect ripening conditions. This block, with 20-year-old vines and well-drained, gravelly soil produces an especially rich and concentrated wine. Whole cluster pressing and fermentation with natural yeasts contribute to the wine’s character and complexity. The 1995 version is the quintessential expression of this vineyard enclave, broadly structured on the palate and brimming with complex aromas.
